This is
the mast
from the first
HMAS Sydney, (there have been four of them)
which sank a German battleship off Cocos Islands during WW1.
On the
left is Admiralty House, the
Governor-General's Sydney residence,
and nestled between the trees on the right is Kirribilli
House,
the Prime Minister's Sydney residence.
Fortifications

Luna
Park... just for fun !!
Heading
back into Circular Quay, we sailed under the bridge
and I got some good shots of the several groups of climbers
who were up there at the time.
This diagram shows the route the climbers take,
so maybe you can orientate it with the photos.
Click here for a virtual tour of the route.

I love
this shot ! You can see some on the far side coming down too.
Can you
see them all ? One group has just come off the ladders, two more are on the
incline
and one at the summit, about an inch to the left of the flag.
It's too hard to see, but there are also some on the way down on the far side.
There's
also a Pylon Lookout climb. We
received free passes after the bridge climb,
but ran out of time to use them.
Are they
on the near side heading out, or on the far side coming back in ?!!
(Just to the right of the mast, on the lower walkway. The higher part is the
actual road
and railway line. Yes, you walk underneath the cars and trains ! )
