Sydney, 18th to 21st November 2005

It was about 8.30pm by the time we were all finished there, so we were getting a bit peckish.
We set off to find something other than McDonald's or Hungry Jack's
and eventually came across a very nice Italian restaurant called Giovanni's
I had Farfalle Vegetarian and Bill had Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli.... very yummy !
We took our time wandering back to the hotel and it was around 11pm when we got back.

On Saturday it was hotter and more humid than the forecast had predicted,
but despite that, we spent most of the day exploring,
and all up, we walked for at least five hours !

One of the shopping centres had a "Sand in the City" display,
so we stopped in for a look...

This should give you an idea of the size of the sculpture !
The detail was amazing. The cake in his lap had a bite out of it
and you could see teethmarks !

Then we headed off towards the bridge, and wandered all around there...

An unusual angle of the bridge.

I thought this sign was worth a piccy !

This (below) is what holds it all up, not the huge granite clad concrete pylons.
They're mainly for decoration. Here's some very interesting info on the construction.
This page has animations showing the bridge, the tower and Anzac Bridge
in various stages of construction.

There's some intrepid bridge climbers setting out on their adventure.

This is Cadman's Cottage which dates back to 1816.

Very much in contrast with the city skyline !
