Sydney,
18th to 21st November 2005

After our walk, we
stopped on the corner just across from our hotel because
Bill HAD to try something we don't have in Melbourne yet.
I'd forgotten that Sydney already had them until we were in the taxi going from
the airport to our hotel.
The very first eating place I saw, just on the edge of the airport, was one of
these shops,
and now, right in temptation's way, here was another !
I think he
approved... he had two ! His second one was the same as mine....
...
chocolate topped, custard filled.
I'm really not a doughnut nut, but as doughnuts go, I liked the custard !
('Scuse my hair... it was windy and humid up there !)
We went
back to the hotel and freshened up, and then headed off to our Skywalking
adventure.
These first two shots were taken at the same time but with different light
settings.
Here you
can see the Harbour Bridge in the background.
This one was taken further
around the tower.
It was so windy (around 40kph) on that side that I gave up on trying to keep the
hat on.
The Skywalk was fantastic,
and Bill wasn't the least bit scared.
The sun set shortly after we started our walk around the top of the tower.
I wished I'd been able to take my camera up there, but it's obviously not a good
idea
when you're 260 metres above a busy city.
I wouldn't want to be the person at the bottom who got hit by anything
that was accidentally (or purposely !) dropped over the edge !
You have to remove all rings, watches, dangly earrings, even hairclips.
They supply lanyards for your glasses, and the hats and scrunchies they supply
have a cord
and are clipped onto the specially designed suits that zip up the back.
You have to go through a metal detector to make sure you have no coins or keys
on you,
and they breathalyse everyone too.
They're extremely thorough. You have a radio and headphones so you can hear the
guide,
but everything is clipped onto the suit.
