On the Sunday we took a trip further north to Mooloolaba
to visit friends who have moved up there.
We spent a pleasant afternoon with them at the Mooloolaba Surf Club.

The stormy sky didn't prevent swimmers and surfers from enjoying their sports...

... catching a wave or two...

... under the lifeguard's watchful eye.

While the kids were having fun in the playroom, the girls tried their luck at the pokies,
and the boys shared a drink and a yarn.
Naturally, I was busy snapping away, as usual.

I'd just walked over to the open windows (the whole top panel folds up
so it's like sitting on a big deck) when there was an almighty flash, craa-aa--aack,
and the heavens opened. These fellas aren't just good swimmers... they can run fast too !

Notice the red flag.... No Swimming !!

Funny thing was, this happened three times while we were there. Each time the storm abated,
they all made their way back to the beach, only to come running back up again when the next
deluge struck. Gotta give it to 'em... they're keen !

Maddie had found herself a little playmate, whose family were sitting at the next table.
The two of them came from the playroom to dob on some boys who were being a bit rough.
I was still standing by the window when I heard the other little girl's mum asking Maddie
"Where's your mum ?" and as she looked around she spotted me and said "Oh, there she is" !!
I thanked her profusely, explaining that I'm her Nana. She apologised and told me
"But you look like her mum !" Made my day !!

A couple of not-so-good sunset shots from the moving car on the trip back to the Gold Coast.
