Moama

This pair of ducks could teach we civilised humans a lesson
in relationships and consideration of others.
They were swimming side by side when I first noticed them,
but within a few seconds, the one further away had got ahead
of the closer one by about a metre/yard. You can see by the
ripples in the water what happened when it realised this.
It turned back, paddled to a short distance behind the second one,
and then turned and drew up alongside it again. It repeated
this several times while I was watching.

We started out heading east for a short distance, until we reached
the bridge which connects Moama on the north side of the Murray
to Echuca in the south.

This was where we turned and headed west. You may just be able to
make out the shadowy figure of a cyclist between the first and second
lights from the right. He followed the boat along the river bank, all
the way up and back, a round trip of about three hours. He was waiting
on the gangplank when we disembarked, and I heard a passenger ask
if he does the ride regularly. He does !!

I attempted a few more shots as darkness fell, but of course, flash isn't
effective at any distance, and with a long exposure, there's too much blur.
So I retired my camera for the rest of the trip, and just enjoyed the scenery,
and, of course, the meal.

Some of the passengers particularly liked one piece of scenery, a young lady
(I use the term loosely !!) who was a member of a party relaxing in a hot tub
on the top deck of a large houseboat. She was possibly slightly intoxicated,
or perhaps she was just highly extroverted, but she wasted no time in showing
off her talents... all of them... when she jumped out of the tub, totally
starkers, and entertained us with a provocative dance routine which
included turning her back and placing her head between her knees !

On our return trip, there were a lot of young men lining up along our decks
with cameras at the ready, only to be disappointed to find that the party was
over and the houseboat was in darkness.
