like to do your washing in this ?
My Mum used a mangle not unlike this until about 1960.

safe, forerunner of the fridge.
"The top tray was filled with water and siphoned out by means of flannel
strips
to run down the hessian sides of the safe and caught in the lower tray
to be drained into a bucket. Perishable foods could be kept in the cool air in
the safe,
cooled by passing through the wet hessian sides."
All sorts of goodies in here !
Foodstuff, medicines, laundry goods....
come to think of it, I may still have
some of these in my cupboards !
