Day Trip to Maldon, Vic

A closer
look at the east window.
"Notice the thickness of the walls as you look at the small windows
along the nave. The walls are built of local slate, or ragstone.
The granite came from nearby Harcourt."
The Lord's
Prayer, worked in lace.
"Look back at the west window behind the gallery. It was one of the first
stained glass windows made in Victoria. John Lyon designed and made this window
in 1864 when his father had already been a shopkeeper in Maldon for many years.
The window is a brilliant array of symbols and initials.
Look for the heads of Christ and John the Baptist.
After those early years Victorian stained glass
became somewhat sombre and gloomy."
