We had lunch at a bar on the
beachfront at Altea, but only after a very kind Welshman (who was engrossed in
Harry Potter at the time) heard our dilemma in trying to order a salad roll, and
came to our rescue. Apparently we were about to get a toasted sandwich, which
really wouldn't have gone down well in that heat. Turned out the nice Welsh
gentleman had lived in Spain for five years, and this was his favourite lunch
venue, so the waiters knew him well, and he was able to make them understand
what we wanted.
We then headed back to the
station and this time, got off the train in Benidorm, but by now had decided it
was too late to go exploring, and just walked down the long main street full of
market type stalls, mainly of clothing and souvenirs, to the beach.
These next pics are what I used
to make up the panorama at the top ^. You have to imagine it wrapped all around
you in a complete circle to get the idea of the view.
