Bill with some business
associates... LOL... wouldn't know it though, would you ?
Phil, on the left is from
Sydney, Angelica is Swedish and Doug is English.
They all work for DuPont in
their respective countries.

We were all given cap guns...
should have heard it... worse than a bunch of kids ! And when the caps ran out,
they collected them up and gave us water pistols. THAT was when the fun really
started ! No-one cared who they squirted, and some of them were refilling them
with alcoholic beverages ! Speaking of which... I decided I would partake that
night, and asked what was in those innocent looking bottles with the Finnish
writing. I was told it was a spirit mixed with fruit juice, so I took one.
Everyone was drinking from bottles, so I had a few sips from mine before going
to get something to eat. I filled my plate and looked for somewhere to sit.
There were a few small but high round tables with bar stools, so I put my bottle
on a table, and that's when I came eye to eye with the contents.... yep....
there was a worm in the bottom of my bottle ! I did my best to convince myself
that the few mouthfuls I'd had weren't contaminated, but all I drank for the
rest of the night was water from my own bottle ! That's not my bottle I'm
shooting in the pic... it's Bill's beer that he asked me to hold while he took
the photo.

Looks like he belongs there,
doesn't he ?!!
That's me in the teepee... or
is it a wigwam ? Hmmmm... let's see....
WordWeb says a teepee is : A
native American tent; usually of conical shape.
and a wigwam is : A native
American dwelling frequently having an oval shape and covered with bark or
hides.
So it's a teepee.
Note.. the time on the
photo is 9.39 pm and the sky is still bright blue. The sun was at about 45
degrees or maybe higher.
During the course of the
conference, there was a "Miss Glass Processing Days" quest (naturally !!) and at
each social function, the contestants paraded in various items of attire. On the
final night, this young lady was judged the winner. So... of course... Bill and
Doug had to have their picture taken with her !

Later that night, (I should
say, in the wee small hours of the morning !) Bill almost caused
WW3 when a few of us got together for a drink (yes, after the party they needed
a drink ! I had hot chocolate. ) at a little Irish bar across the river from our
hotel. One of the locals, who had obviously already had one too many, asked if
we minded if he joined us. Being the sociable crowd that we are, we shoved our
chairs around a bit to make room for him at the table. The conversation covered
various topics, but eventually this man began to enquire as to the purpose of
the conference. He was very concerned about all these foreigners invading his
city, and seemed to think that there was evil afoot. We had a couple of
Americans in our party, and he began asking them why America wants to rule the
whole world. They tried to explain to him that this was simply a conference
about glass and that no-one was going to cause any problems, but he
wasn't easily reassured... particularly when Bill pulled out his water
pistol and squirted him fair and square in the face !
If looks could kill
!!! My big lug of a hubby thought it was hilarious, but our guest was not amused
!
This one was taken after our
Finnish friend beat a hasty retreat !
Jeff (centre) works for DuPont
in Delaware, and that's Phil (Oz) again on the right.
