Avebury
19th July

During the past four or five days, the temps had been creeping up into the low 30s C,
which is high 80s to low 90s F. This day, Wednesday 19th July 2006, went down in
history as England's hottest July day on record, when the mercury topped 36 C, or 97 F.
Schools closed down, roads melted and trains had to go slow due to buckled tracks.
Here's a newspaper report.

Despite the heat, mad dogs and Englishmen (or women !!) stayed out in the noonday
sun, continuing with the theme of stone circles. This is a huge one where you can
actually walk amongst the stones at Avebury.

You stroll among the sheep to explore these stones !

Beats me why they built a road through the centre of the circle.
