The bus company also
conducts free walking tours, and the Ghosts by Gaslight
appealed to us, despite the fact that it was, of course, still broad
daylight
at 6pm when the tour started. Well, it was still broad daylight when it
ended,
three hours later ! Actually, I should say "three hours and several
pubs later" !
GHOSTS BY GASLIGHT - (1.5
HOURS)
The Spooky London Pub Crawl
Beyond the bright lights of the West End there
co-exists an older more chilling London of dimly-lit alleyways,
gas-lights and ghosts. Hear tales of haunted underground
stations. Chill to the foul deeds of demon barber Sweeney
Todd. Learn how a black cat prevents fatal consequences
whenever 13 dine together at a world-famous hotel. A pint of ale
in a dark corner of an old tavern or two will chase away
your fears. Join us if you dare on London’s best ghost walk.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from any sales staff or at the
departure point of the walk.
Daily at 6.00 pm
Departs from Trafalgar Square - Stop 9, 37
Finishes: Walk finishes at a convenient Underground Station

Here's the first pub we stopped at...
Home of William Etty and Clarkson Stanfield
on the original site of Samuel Pepys' home.

Another pub we stopped at, built in 1676.

The
Royal Courts of Justice.
Do you have any idea
how many places named "George"
there are in London... ??!!! I can't find any info,
but I love the Tudor style building.
I've forgotten whose
doorway this lamp was over,
but it may have been Mrs. Lovett, the lady who
was supplied with "meat" for her pies by....
Sweeney
Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street.
Here's his portal...
Another one that I
don't remember the story to...
there were so many stories !
Hodge
The story goes that
he's frequently seen
haunting the area.
