After some drastic
"pruning", this is a "small" selection from the 5,000
or so photos
Maggi, Bill and I took between us on our trip !
All those with the date stamp on were taken by Maggi,
who also has lots of great trip pics on her site.
Flight
time 11pm, Tuesday 4th July 2006
departing Melbourne
Airport, Tullamarine
Here's
to a good flight !
|
Once again, many thanks to Captain Tom Bunn at SOAR,
without whose expert therapy I may never have flown again.
Thanks also to Mr.
Bill Patterson, hypnotherapist,
for his assistance in dealing with my claustrophobia,
which is also a huge hindrance in flying. |
Maggi's
writing her diary already... ??!!!
I was doing Sudoku puzzles.
Not going to
bore you with all the aerial shots this time,
but here's Hong Kong at around 7am...
... and here's
a plane passing us.
Almost 24 hours of smooth, uneventful flying later, (including two big
meals
and at least 4 in-flight movies) we're at Heathrow
already, and Bill's trying
to figure out where to pile all the luggage in the hire car...
a Peugeot 407 station wagon.

Looking out
from our first floor hotel room at Travelodge,
Leatherhead,
which, I might add, we had a heck of a time finding ! All you see is a
shop front
in a pedestrian mall, with no designated parking, so you have to pay to
park
in the shopping centre carpark !
Here's a traveller's review I
found.

No complaints about
the room though, and the £4 "breakfast in a bag"
is a brilliant idea, and amply sufficient.
We didn't do much the
first day. It was early afternoon when we arrived
at the hotel, so we just had a bit of a look around the local area that
afternoon
and went for a walk to find the railway station in the evening.
Wondered what all the
clanging and banging was at 4am the next morning.
Looked out to find there was a market being set up right under
our window.
Too much noise to go back to sleep !

So... it's Thursday 6th July,
and we're off on the train into London.
Here's where we got off... Waterloo
Station.
