We'd noticed a lot of smoke all around Darwin, and had even
been able to smell it from our room. Our guide explained that
lightning strikes constantly ignite bushfires which are generally
left to burn themselves out.

Not sure what the chopper was doing but he was within
shooting range so I did the thing that comes naturally to me...

Driving back along the track we stopped to admire the flora.

Towards the top left hand corner of this next photo there's
something that caught our guide's keen eye...

Centred up and zoomed in... yes, it looks like....

... this is a job for the 300mm lens... !!!
What you can see of him is about half... those in the know say
the back legs are half way along the full length. He's a biggie !
