Here's a very interesting character who we greeted as he walked
towards us while we were looking for a particular wharf area
we'd been told about. (We never did find it !)

After a friendly "G'day, how ya goin', good thanks, and you ?"
we continued on our journey, along the same street, and about
ten minutes later, this man was again approaching us from the
opposite direction ! Perhaps he'd crossed the road and walked
back, but we hadn't seen him. Maybe he'd gone round the block,
but there didn't really appear to be a block !

Wherever he'd reappeared from, we once again exchanged
pleasantries, and Bill asked him if he could tell us where we
might find a taxi, since we couldn't find the cafes and we'd
decided to go back to the hotel for a coffee.

He told us there was a phone box just down the hill, and if
it didn't work right away, "just jiggle it around a bit and you
should get through... 131 008".

We thanked him (planning to use our own phone rather than jiggle)
and as he turned to walk off, he hesitated and pulled a photo out
of his sack. It was the one of the hands opening up the clouds.
He asked if we'd seen it before and I said I had. He told me
that his cousin had taken that photo during some sort of protest.
He said there was a sudden hush as everyone looked up at the sky,
and then all became peaceful.

I had no idea whether his story was actually true, (have
checked it out since and that photo is a fake) but there was
something about him that made me ask if I could take his photo.
He said "yeah, no worries" and struck a pose before wishing us
a good day and taking his leave. And as he walked away, leaving
us looking at each other in bemusement, on this all but empty
stretch of wharf side road, a taxi materialised as if called
by some supernatural power !

To make matters even more interesting, when I looked at the photo,
all I could see was his silhouette ! I've played with it in Photoshop
and this is the best I could do with it...

These just don't seem to belong in tropical Darwin !

Back at the hotel for a cappuccino beside the pool.

Love that waterfall !

There were actually two large pools, one blue and the other green.
